USO Concert for the Troops Announces July 4, 2008 Date; Launches 'Virtual Wall Of Honor' Web Fundraiser at Concert4thetroops.com

USO Concert for the Troops will donate proceeds from this event to the USO Los Angeles Area Inc., which supports the operations of the Bob Hope USO at LAX, USO Ontario Airport and USO Palm Springs. Donations are used to provide services, food, drinks, entertainment, a place to rest, and "a touch of home," to US servicemen and servicewomen as well as their families.

(Issues Wire / PRWEB) March 3, 2008 -- Los Angeles based the People's Concert and Superstar Events have announced that their USO Concert for their Concert for the Troops benefit event has been moved to July 4, 2008 at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

In addition, a new web based fundraiser at www.concert4thetroops.com has been launched.

"We're very excited about the new strategy that perfectly coincides with the most patriotic date in our Nation's history," says Fred Zermeno, CEO of the People's Concert, the event's executive producer. "In addition, the City of Los Angeles had generously offered to align our event with their annual Fireworks Gala planned for the 4th at the Coliseum. This offered us a perfect opportunity to best to serve the fundraising interests of the USO and the entertainment needs of citizens of Los Angeles."

Further, a web based fundraising program has been launched to support the initial financial requirements of the USO Concert for the Troops benefit event. "People have asked us how they support the USO with modest donations," says Peggy Sweeney-McDonald, managing partner, Superstar Events. "As anyone can imagine, the costs of starting up a Benefit Concert for 80,000 people are huge," she stated, "and this offers us the chance to raise much needed funds to address production, entertainment, legal, public relations and other expenses."

To accomplish this objective, a "Virtual Wall Of Honor" has been created and launched at www.concert4thetroops.com. It is modeled after the world-famous "million dollar home page" where 1,000,000 pixels are sold for $1 each. "All folks need to do is go to www.concert4thetroops.com and purchase a block of pixels to display a thumbnail photo of a family member, schoolmate, friend or neighbor who has in the past, or is currently, serving in the US military," says Sweeney-McDonald.

The minimum size is 100-pixel 'blocks', each measuring 10x10 pixels. She continues, "After they choose the block size desired and follow a simple upload process to send the honoree's photo to us, we then do all the rest to get the picture sized to the block purchased and posted." The site accepts PayPal payments allowing anyone with an account or a credit card to purchase pixels. The www.concert4thetroops.com will stay active until July 4, 2009 with the images posted. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to the USO Concert for the Troops.
