Private Universities Remain Unscathed by California Budget Cuts

Academy of Art University Continues to Offer World-Class Education

San Francisco, CA (Issues Wire / PRWEB) March 5, 2008 -- In the midst of proposed state budget cuts threatening California State Universities, private universities and colleges remain unaffected. Because private schools are funded independently from the state, they are not subject to the proposed cuts announced by university officials. Thus, private universities and colleges, such as Academy of Art University, are excellent alternatives to California public schools.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger plans to suspend Proposition 98, the landmark school funding guarantee California voters approved in 1988. In response to Gov. Schwarzenegger's proposed cuts to the California State University system, university officials have asked deans and vice presidents to decrease spending and even tighten admission for incoming freshman for the fall semester. With such a large budget cut, state universities will not be able to support as many students.

Academy of Art University is committed to providing a world-class education to anyone who is interested in pursuing their dreams in art and design
For private universities and colleges and California, this fall will be like any other. Prospective freshman will not have to face admission obstacles due to budget cuts at private schools. With an open door policy that expects nothing less than 100 percent passion and commitment, Academy of Art University admits any student interested in pursuing an education in art and design.

A common misconception about private education is that it is extremely expensive. Though Academy of Art University is a top art school, it is committed to maintaining competitive tuition rates. The Academy is consistently one of the best values in private education in the nation with 40% lower tuition rates than other major private art and design schools. Additionally, the Academy offers a second-to-none customer service approach in helping students through the financial aid process.

"Academy of Art University is committed to providing a world-class education to anyone who is interested in pursuing their dreams in art and design," said Academy of Art University President Dr. Elisa Stephens. "We encourage anyone who is passionate about a creative career to apply."

Students who are currently enrolled in California public colleges and universities may also consider transferring. Private universities and colleges welcome transfer students and have resources available to make the transition as easy as possible. The Academy's Admissions office is dedicated to making each student's transfer as simple and seamless as possible.

Located in the heart of San Francisco, Academy of Art University is one of the foremost educational and artistic institutions in the world, providing students with the advantage they need in the world of art and design. The supreme faculty of working professionals and state-of-the-art facilities give Academy students a competitive edge when they enter the art and design industries upon graduation.

The list of companies that hire Academy graduates reads like a who's who list of art and design - Alexander McQueen, Pixar, Sony, DreamWorks, McCann-Erickson and so on. Academy graduates have worked on hit films such as Ratatouille, designed popular video games, such as World of Warcraft and landed lead creative jobs at General Motors.
