We are delighted to have Intergraph play an even larger role in our conference next year
The GITA Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference is recognized as the premier industry event that focuses on geospatial technology solutions for companies that own, maintain, operate and protect the world's infrastructure. The appointment of an Intergraph utilities executive and infrastructure expert to the conference chair position provides GITA the ability to offer additional value to emerging audiences from industries like utilities that increasingly rely on geospatial technology.

"We are delighted to have Intergraph play an even larger role in our conference next year," said Bob Samborski, executive director at GITA. "As we expand our charter beyond traditional geospatial technology to include a full realm of geospatial infrastructure solutions, it is crucial that we work closely with experts in industries such as utilities to help broaden our scope and ensure that we are providing value to the larger spatial community. Kecia brings such a special energy and dedication to this important position. We're very happy to be working with her and her committee on the 2009 event."

"The livelihood of GITA and the quality of its activities rely heavily on its members," said Pierce. "To continue to provide the valuable education and events for which the association is known, we will seek additional opportunities for industry experts to play a meaningful role in the organization and conference without overwhelming time commitments."

As chair of the 2009 Geospatial Infrastructure Solutions Conference committee, Pierce will direct a team of her peers, experts representing the major geospatial technology vendors and the industry at large, responsible for developing an educational program that encompasses current trends, technical advances and solutions important to the broad geospatial industry. She will also play an active role in all committee activities, working closely with the GITA conference management staff and the association's board of directors.

Pierce has been with Intergraph since 1990. As industry manager, she is responsible for the company's product direction and strategy for the utilities industry. Since joining GITA, Pierce has been involved in many activities surrounding crucial topics including interoperability standards, mobile computing, storm response and preparedness, critical infrastructure protection, aging infrastructure and Smart Grid technology. She will continue to bring relevant geospatial technology and industry issues to the forefront in her new position as conference chair.

GITA is one of the largest educational associations serving the global geospatial community. Through a series of events, publications and other resources, GITA brings together the nation's top geospatial professionals to foster information sharing and industry advancement.

About GITA                                                                                                                                                     The mission of the Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is to provide excellence in education, information exchange and applied research on the use and benefits of geospatial information and technology in infrastructure applications worldwide.
