Hubdub Election Map Forecasts Who Will Win The Swing States

The Hubdub Election Map is a new service from Hubdub, the prediction market website, which forecasts the election results across all 50 states in the forthcoming US election.

New York, NY (Issues Wire / PRWEB) September 24, 2008 -- Watching mainstream news pundits over the past election cycle, one might have thought that Barack Obama sealed the nomination on the night of the Iowa Caucuses or that Hillary had won on March 4 with Ohio and Texas. In fact, the political pundits have a pretty abysmal record at forecasting this election, and it's time to start looking elsewhere for election predictions. That's where the Hubdub Electoral Map comes in. The Hubdub Electoral Map is a new service from Hubdub, the prediction market website, where users trade Hubdub Dollars on the election outcomes for all 50 states and the current forecast for each state is pulled together onto a single map of the country.

The map is real-time and interactive, allowing Hubdub users to participate in the forecast at state level. States forecast to be won by Obama are colored blue and those forecast to be won by McCain are colored red. Moving your cursor over a state displays the current likelihood of either McCain or Obama winning the state. Click on the state and you'll be taken to that state's prediction market, where you can comment on it or voice your own opinion by predicting who wins the state. In addition, the total electoral count is constantly updated based on the current standing in each state. Watch the forecasts on a daily and hourly basis to see how the forecasts continually change based on the latest news flow.

Prediction markets have proven to be more agile than polls, responding in near real time to developing stories. Using the wisdom of the crowds to predict the 2008 Election result allows a more timely analysis of the race. As each breaking news story happens, after each interview, or after each Presidential Debate, it takes a week before polls are able to respond to the effects of these but Hubdub can show the results immediately as users determine how they think the latest publicity stunt changes the race. No other election prediction source responds so quickly to developing events. The Hubdub Electoral Map is a one-stop source for forecasting data on the 2008 Election. Users of all demographics can come to the map to receive an unbiased forecast of the election, make their own predictions, and take the widget onto their own blog to get a real-time updated forecast of the results.
