My Perfect Gig's Knowledge-Based Approach to Recruiting Services Unearths Engineering Market Intelligence

Provides unparalleled view of engineering market hiring dynamics.

Lexington, MA (Issues Wire / PRWEB) September 30, 2008 -- My Perfect Gig Inc.'s pioneering approach towards online recruiting services is unearthing an unprecedented level of market intelligence on hiring within the engineering market.

My Perfect Gig provides engineers and employers with deep insight into the current U.S. engineering industry. Its knowledge base reveals, by region, the available engineering workforce and the most sought after skills, which companies are competing for the same engineering skill sets, and the best methods for targeting engineering talent.

Our knowledge base enables engineers, recruiters, hiring managers and top engineering schools to make accurate decisions based on detailed engineering trends nationwide
Company technology connects engineers across all disciplines, major engineering employers, high traffic engineering websites like EETimes and Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data to provide an unmatched understanding of engineering market dynamics, according to Blair Heavey, chief executive officer.

"Our knowledge base enables engineers, recruiters, hiring managers and top engineering schools to make accurate decisions based on detailed engineering trends nationwide," said Heavey.

Particularly helpful is My Perfect Gig's detailed supply and demand dynamics for specific skills and location. In California, skills most in demand include ASIC design and Verilog and HDL expertise. Oregon firms highly value Verilog and HDL expertise. Arizona has a large demand for FPGA knowledge, while North Dakota and Alabama firms highly value MATLAB environment expertise. Cadence expertise is in high demand in Iowa and North Carolina.

My Perfect Gig's data also shows North Carolina, Illinois and Connecticut sharing high demand for RF experience. Vermont is pursuing BiCMOS engineers while Maine companies value RFID experience. AutoCAD expertise is sought after in New Jersey, Minnesota, Nevada, Kansas and Georgia. Outside the continental United States, firms in Hawaii value SCI expertise; Alaska is desperately seeking engineers with AES expertise.

Such demand profoundly impacts salaries. My Perfect Gig analyzed 2006-2007 salary data for engineers (engineering managers, electronics engineers, software and hardware engineers, and computer hardware engineers) including BLS data, to determine states with the largest compensation increases and decreases:

  • Engineering managers saw double digit salary growth in Montana (+28%), North Carolina (+13%), Illinois (+11%), Iowa (+11%), and Nevada (+10%).
  • Electronics engineers saw increases in Iowa (+13%) and Nevada (+11%), but the greatest in Delaware, exceeding 16%
  • Electronics engineers experienced declining salary in ten states--a 15% drop in North Dakota, 4% in Maine and 3% in Pennsylvania
  • Computer hardware engineer salaries also dropped in ten states, the most drastic including Kansas (-11%), South Carolina (-9%), and Florida (-8%).
Engineering disciplines covered by My Perfect Gig include Aerospace, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Environmental, Hardware, Health & Safety, Industrial, Materials, Mechanical, Nuclear, and Petroleum. My Perfect Gig is expanding beyond Engineering to include other occupations such as Sales and Product Marketing.
