San Jose, CA (Issues Wire / PRWEB) February 22, 2008 -- Director of the Center for Terrorism and Intelligence Studies (CETIS), Gary Ackerman, will highlight the growing threat of weapons of mass destruction terrorism in this month's Henley-Putnam University teleconference.

Mr. Ackerman will discuss how potentially threatening dual-use technology and scientific know-how circulate in the global economy, which increases the risk of WMD-related materials falling into the wrong hands. "The U.S. Intelligence Community needs more people armed with the specialized skills and knowledge necessary to understand and track WMD proliferation networks," says Ackerman. He cites U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Mike McConnell, who in a February 5, 2008 statement to the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, stated, "The time when only a few states had access to the most dangerous technologies has been over for many years."

One of the greatest risks to the international community today is a terrorist attack involving WMD.
The Henley-Putnam monthly teleconference briefings are free to the public. Reservations can be made by calling 408-453-9900 ext. 9949. "Weapons of Mass Destruction Terrorism" with Gary Ackerman will be live February 28 at 10:00 a.m. PST. Past conferences are archived on the University's website: http://www.henley-putnam.edu/111-185.htm.

Michael Corcoran, PhD., President of Henley-Putnam University welcomes Gary Ackerman to the University's symposium line-up noting that, "One of the greatest risks to the international community today is a terrorist attack involving WMD."
