The World Health Organization-Sponsored EVIPNET Asia Groups Select TrialStat's SRS 4.0

Four Evidence-Informed Policy Network (EVIPNet) Asia Groups Choose SRS 4.0® for their Research Projects
We are delighted to be using SRS to make the process of systematic reviews easier for our groups

Ottawa, ON (Issues Wire / PRWEB) March 13, 2008 -- TrialStat Corporation, the industry's first clinical data solutions on demand company, today announced that four Asia groups, in Malaysia, participating in the WHO-sponsored Evidence-Informed Policy Network (EVIPNet) program will be conducting their systematic reviews using TrialStat's SRS 4.0. This initiative is part of TrialStat's Free Reference Exchange Database (FRIEND) Program which provides qualified not-for-profit organizations with no charge access to SRS 4.0 for their research. As part of the program, these Malaysian groups will contribute coded data to ESRNexus™ (www.esrnexus.com), the largest publicly accessible Web-based reference database containing more than 17 million references. EVIPNet Asia was launched in June 2005 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There are currently 7 EVIPNet members in the Asia region with countries including China (Beijing, Sichuan and Shandong Provinces), Laos PDR, Malaysia, The Philippines and Vietnam.

Details of EVIPNet Asia's participation are:

  • No Charge Use of SRS 4.0 provided to four EVIPNet Asia groups in Malaysia, including the Institute for Health Systems Research which is one of the National Institutes of Health Malaysia, Likas Hospital, and Taiping Hospital, to conduct reviews associated with not-for-profit research.
  • Contribution to ESRNexus. The EVIPNet Asia groups in Malaysia will contribute to the growth and development of the ESRNexus free online database of coded references, through the publication of citations and a subset of the screening and data extraction information collected from their SRS-based reviews.

"We are delighted to be using SRS to make the process of systematic reviews easier for our groups," said Ms. Maylene Beltran, Chair, EVIPNet Asia Steering Group. "This collaboration will certainly benefit our Malaysian teams in their not-for-profit research projects."

"We are happy to provide the EVIPNet Asia groups in Malaysia with an opportunity to conduct this worthwhile research using SRS 4.0 through the FRIEND Program," said Peter O'Blenis, Vice President Systematic Reviews. "In addition, the contribution to the ESRNexus database, by these groups, will benefit the research community as a whole."

More than half of all evidence-based practice centers (EPCs) are currently using SRS 4.0 to conduct their systematic reviews and health outcomes research. Headquartered at the world's leading medical schools, evidence-based practice centers, such as the one at McMaster University, conduct systematic literature reviews on clinical, behavioral and organizational evidence. SRS 4.0, the world's only Web-enabled systematic review solution, streamlines the screening and data abstraction phases of the review process, significantly reducing the overall amount of paper, time and cost associated with this type of research.
