International Music Star Alexa Releases Single "Beijing" to Protest Olympics

Coinciding with the opening of the 2008 Summer Olympics, New York City based Musician Alexa announced the release today of her new single "Beijing"in protest of the current regime in China and its human rights violations. The single is from her forthcoming CD "Lovely."

New York, NY (Issues Wire / PRWEB) August 7, 2008 -- New York City based Musician Alexa announced the release today of her new single "Beijing". The single is from her forthcoming CD "Lovely."

Coinciding with the opening of the 2008 Summer Olympics, singer/songwriter Alexa says the song, "is a commentary on the rapid pace of globalization where one can be at any point in the world and receive news and information from anywhere else in the world. In that sense we are all, as the song says, 'Just outside of Beijing'. Ironically, we have probably received more information about the Tiananmen Square Massacre and other atrocities committed by the government in Beijing than the citizens of China."

The Women of Don Quixote
"The beating of foreign journalists at the current Olympics and the last minute visa cancellation for a 2006 United States Olympian are just two more examples of what the regime in Beijing is capable of," says Alexa. "The release of this single is meant as a protest against their policies and actions."

Inspiration for her song "Beijing" included the events of Tiananmen Square and a BBC story she heard on WNYC radio about the incredibly high taxation of dog owners and the subsequent killings of dogs in Beijing. About the inspiration for the song Alexa says, "In a sense I'm joining the famous 'Tank Man' who protested the regime years ago. I'm hoping others will join me."

A 30 second "bumper" version of the song is available as a free music download as a free mp3 at:
