They describe how the arrested suspect, Pedro Espinosa, should have been deported because he was in the country illegally and has been convicted of previous crimes. Espinosa has been described by police as an "18th Street criminal alien gang banger" who was early released from L.A. County jail after serving only four months for assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a police officer.
