Primus Launches Green Broadband

A new green broadband product has been launched in Australia by Primus.

(Issues Wire / PRWEB) November 1, 2007 -- Primus, a leading provider of high quality broadband plans and other telecommunications services in Australia, has joined forces with Landcare Australia to create a new broadband program to help consumers neutralise the effect of greenhouse emissions associated with their broadband usage.

In an Australian first, for every customer who joins the Primus Green Broadband program, Landcare will plant on average 5 native trees per year of service.

Primus Green Broadband is great news and an opportunity for Australians who proactively want to make a positive contribution to Australia's environment
"Primus Green Broadband is great news and an opportunity for Australians who proactively want to make a positive contribution to Australia's environment," said Primus CEO Ravi Bhatia. "Green Broadband is also an example of service innovation by one of Australia's leading broadband internet service providers".

Mr Brian Scarsbrick of Landcare said "In addition to reducing the carbon footprint of the customers, trees planted under the Primus/Landcare initiative will also help restore natural habitat for endangered species; improve water quality in catchment areas; reduce the effects of salinity and other environmental degradation. Green Broadband is a great opportunity for consumers to help our environment."

"Primus and Landcare have developed a conservative mathematical model and estimate that planting of 5 native trees will more than neutralise the effect of greenhouse emissions resulting from a typical family's broadband usage over the course of a year" said Mr. Bhatia.

Primus estimates the Green Broadband program could result in up to 1,000,000 trees being planted over the next 4 years.

Green Broadband customers will also receive a personalised e-certificate recognising their contribution to the environment and will have access to a dedicated website providing information and regular updates on the Landcare tree-planting projects.

Green Broadband customers will also have access to several other environment friendly features developed by Primus including on-line billing, on-line instant customer service and account management.

Please visit the green broadband page in our broadband section for more information on this great initiative.
