The New Voice of Independence Party (V.I.P.) is Forming

For those who wish they could vote for None-of-the-Above, there is an option. For those who are tired of pretty faces and petty promises, there is an option. For those who realize that the Republicans and the Democrats are the problem, not the solution, there is a new option.

Black Hills, SD (Issues Wire / PRWEB) April 14, 2008 -- The V.I.P. is waiting to welcome you aboard. Visit http://www.firstdemocracy.org

Government of the People, by the People, and for the People.
The V.I.P. logo illustrates a commitment to learning to lead (No More Sheep) as we become Citizens in the fullest measure of the term, and to teaching our "representatives" the art of followership.

Unlike the major political machines, the Voice of Independence Party does not put its faith in one saleable candidate, and our platform consists of only one plank (but it is a very wide plank). Here is our vision.

Citizens of the United States have the right to vote on national policy issues of their own choosing. Furthermore, their decisions are binding on all branches of the federal government. Do these words sound familiar?

"Government of the People, by the People, and for the People." -- Abraham Lincoln, The Gettysburg Address

This is an ideal we have long sought, and can never achieve under a republican form of government (rule by representatives).

America experienced the Civil Rights Movement in the mid 20th century and was made better for it. At the beginning of the 21st century, it is time to begin our Political Rights Movement. Imagine the benefits of America setting a new standard for democratic governance and reclaiming its moral leadership in the world.

  • Participation skyrockets as voting becomes a meaningful right and a cherished responsibility.
  • National morale is boosted as Citizens gain a sense of control over their government and their lives.
  • Crucial policy issues are resolved in a timely manner by national referendum, instead of dragging on for years in a controversy that destroys national unity.
  • Political parties and special interest groups lose their stranglehold on our political system.

The path to this brave new world is outlined at http://www.firstdemocracy.org. There you can participate in a referendum and experience the power of making national policy decisions. Your suggestions for future referendum items would be welcome as well. The site also provides detail on how we could finally, at long last, achieve democracy in America.
